In her works, Silva Bingaz focuses on humanist values, dwells upon people’s efforts to shield their souls from all kinds of values and hierarchy imposed by the authority, and the most basic forms of existence. Even though she says that she sees Istanbul asthe most dangerous place for her because it is the backdrop to the burning realities of daily life, she is a photographer who still mostly feeds off of Istanbul.
The Transformative Soul Deep Within's story starts with the death of a painter, and pursues the transformative soul in the depths of Istanbul in the last ten years, from 2012 to the present. TheTransformative Soul Deep Within is shaped by the effort to come out of the despair that rose from the series of explosions and deaths following three years of resistance and hope. It is possible to trace this simmering mood and the special relationship that Bingaz has established with Istanbul and those who resist despair, at parties behind closed doors, at a funeral, in people embracing each other, or in a crowded street seen from a high building.
